BROADCASTING legend Sir Terry Wogan is pictured with Herts Ad editor Matt Adams at the recent inaugural St Albans Literary Festival.
Sir Terry presented an evening of entertainment at the event, which was initiated by Mr Adams who held journalism workshops over the four days of the festival.
“It is remarkable to think that such a diverse, inclusive and entertaining festival was the result of a casual conversation on Twitter,” said Mr Adams.
“This was an event which truly inspired our whole community.”
Hundreds of book lovers took part in the festival that was run by volunteers at various venues across the medieval city centre.
Activities kicked off with visits from children’s authors to schools across the district, aimed at promoting and encouraging reading for all ages, before a packed Town Hall welcomedSir Terry Wogan for an evening’s entertainment.
Other events included a murder mystery dinner, a panel of ‘criminal masterminds’ revealing the secrets behind writing crime fiction, and a special Tudor night in the Lady Chapel at St Albans Cathedral.
Discussions for a follow-up festival are already under way.
