The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday and Edinburgh Evening News are to merge operations by March next year.
Publisher Johnston Press has said that the operational merger of the titles mimics the successfully implemented model at Leeds-based titles the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post. The three titles will still retain their separate identities in print.
Ian Stewart, editor of the Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday will take on the newly-created role of editorial director of immediate parent company The Scotsman Publications Ltd. Frank O’Donnell, editor of Edinburgh Evening news, will be made managing editor.
