Shortlists for the newsawards 2015 have been announced and all five products submitted by Mortons Media Group are in the running for honours.
The Lincolnshire-based printer and publisher has been nominated for Regional Newspaper Printer of the Year for its production of the Hackney Citizen and the Hull Daily Mail, while the trio of Cage & Aviary Birds, Fishing News and Church Times are up for Niche Market Newspaper of the Year.
Steve Wickwar, Mortons’ operations director, said: “There is tough competition in every category so to get any nominations is good, but to get all five entries nominated is quite exceptional.”
Winners will be announced during a gala black tie awards ceremony at the Lancaster London, a new venue for this year’s relaunched event. Taking place on Wednesday, April 29, the evening will be hosted by The Pub Landlord, Al Murray.
Gary Cullum, director of newsawards, said: “We have a fresh new image for 2015, a new format and a new venue. The new format divides the awards into three distinct sections – print, digital and business.
“Judging took place over three days at Fujifilm’s UK head office and at the Internet Advertising Bureau, where entries in 19 separate categories were scrutinised by more than 20 judges with specialist knowledge of all aspects of the industry.
“The standard of entries has been exceptional and we are now beginning to see clear evidence of how the industry is facing up to achieving success in these evolving and challenging times. It’s not simply a question of print versus digital, it’s about developing creative, commercial and innovative solutions designed to make the two work together to succeed into the future.”
