Local World has secured the lion’s share of nominations at the 2015 EDF Energy South West Media Awards.
Of the 68 nominations in print/digital categoriesLocal World has its name against 52 of them.
Local World will win several categories by default as they feature no nominees from other media companies. These include Newcomer of the Year, Designer of the Year, Weekly Print Journalist of the Year, Community Campaign of the Year and Front Page of the Year.
The key Paid For Newspaper of the Year categories will also be contested solely by Local World titles, with the West Briton, Bath Chronicle and Western Gazette named on the best weekly shortlist, and the Bristol Post, Plymouth Herald and Western Morning News battling it out for the best daily award. The Western Gazette and Western Morning News won in their respective categories at last year’s event so both will be hoping to hold onto their titles.
The EDF Energy awards, held in association with HoldtheFrontPage, honour the best in journalism across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
The awards ceremony will be held at Somerset County Cricket Club, in Taunton, on Thursday July 16.
