The BBC, working with local news publishers and the News Media Association, has held its first Local Democracy Reporter conference and awards – 18 months after the scheme was launched. PJ correspondent ALAN GEERE was at the BBC MediaCity event to hear how the 140-plus reporters have produced 90,000 stories focusing on local councils and other public bodies.
