The Essex Chronicle Media Group has picked up 13 nominations at the EDF Energy East of England Media Awards 2014.
The Essex Chronicle picked up the lion’s share with 11 nominations, including Weekly Paid For Newspaper of the Year – an award which went to sister title the Brentwood Gazette last year.
The weekly has also been shortlisted in the Front Page of the Year and Website of the Year categories.
Essex Chronicle reporters have picked up several individual nominations too.
Megan Tatum and Will Watkinson are both in the running for Weekly Print Journalist of the Year, while Will is also shortlisted for Feature Writer of the Year and crime correspondent Chris Dyer is named in the Specialist Journalist of the Year category.
The Chronicle also dominates the Newcomer of the Year category, securing four of the six nominations. Chris Dyer, Megan Tatum, Peter Walker and Will Watkinson will battle it out for the first award to be handed out at the ceremony on Thursday February 26.
The Brentwood Gazette picked up two nominations – Front Page of the Year and Designer of the Year (Alex Leys).
